Portsmouth--Virginius Charles Cassell, Jr., 53, of 1701 Holiday St., died Saturday at 4 a.m. in a Portsmouth hospital after a short illness.
He was the husband of Mrs. Carrie Mildred Cassell and son of the late Virginius C. and Mrs. Mary C. McMahon Cassell.
He was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ann E. Davis of Portsmouth; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian E. Harrington of Norfolk County and Mrs. Mary C. Cousins of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Jean S. Bright of Portsmouth; two brothers, Victor R. Cassell and John J. Cassell, both of Portsmouth, and three grandchildren.
The body was taken to Foster Funeral Home, where a rosary service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church Monday at 11 a.m.
The family will assemble at the home of Miss Margaret McMahon, 305 Western Branch Blvd.
